Opportunities are knocking for deserving Students

The much-awaited NEP 2020 started during the last academic session in our state. The affiliating University (GU) has named the UG degree program as the FYUGP (Four Year Integrated Undergraduate Programme). This UG program consists of eight semesters, namely - FUYGP-I, FYUGP-II, ... and FYUGP-VIII. Multiple exit and entry options are unique features of NEP 2020. The last two semesters are crucial for students to prepare for their future careers. Therefore, it is important for students to pay close attention in each semester to achieve their desired outcome. Once students complete FYUGP, they can pursue a Ph.D. programme directly. The University Grants Commission recently announced that 75% marks are required to pursue a Ph.D. for FYUGP graduates. This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in joining a research career.
On the other hand, very recently, unexpected opportunities have arisen for the student community who are interested in joining the proposed TATA semiconductor industry. Under the vibrant leadership of the State Chief Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, renowned industry giant TATA is establishing a semiconductor industry in the former Paper Mill Campus here at Jagiroad, along with two other semiconductor industries in the country. This decision will create thousands of job opportunities directly and indirectly through the semiconductor industry. Many ancillary and downstream industries will require a massive workforce in the coming days.
Students of Jagiroad College can benefit from this opportunity if they are willing to grab it. Already, nearly 1000 female students (of which almost 300 are from Jagiroad College) have benefited from this historic decision of the State Government. We appreciate the bold initiative of our dynamic Chief Minister for his visionary leadership towards generating massive employment through industrialization in the state. Our institution is in the closest proximity to the prospective human resources required by the semiconductor industry, and we must be prepared to take advantage of it. I sincerely hope that a collective effort will bring fruit to the deserving job seeker students of our college.
