Miles to go, but we are moving apace...
I extend my warm welcome to all of you for choosing this College as your next stop in your journey to the world of higher education. I would like to invite one and all personally to come to the College and see how the good things are happening day by day. With the installation of a 50 kw Solar power plant together with 45 KVA Generator besides the already existing 40 kw grid line from ASEB, we the entire College family feel privileged to enjoy the uninterrupted 24x7 power supply, which is a dream for others. Why I am mentioning this is that without continuous supply of uninterrupted electricity, progress would be a distant dream in today’s world.
After having been reassured of nonstop power supply, we are now putting in efforts to give a new paradigm shift to our teaching learning processes by introducing modern smart class rooms in a phased manner. Computer Laboratories are connected with LAN with IBM server, which is supported by 10 kva online UPS for enhanced assurance of uninterrupted supply of power during practical hours at Labs.
Further, in the Library, which is the main artery of any institution of higher education, services are improving with the introduction of LAN through IBM server and upgradation of library software: SOUL.Further, from this year onwards, apart from our own resources available in the Library, the College/users could access more than 6000+ ejournals and 97,000+ ebooks from across the libraries of different higher educational Institutions and Research Bodies, which I think would benefit the community of researchers to a great extent. They can view and download important Books, Articles, Theses, Research papers from Libraries across the world. We have already registered our College in the NLIST programme of ‘Inflibnet’ and most of the teachers get their individual userid and password to log on to the site and get access at any time.
It gives me great immense pleasure to share with you the fact that from this year onwards we are going to introduce four new nonconventional and job oriented skillbased courses. They are three year courses on i) Retail Management, ii) Acting under UGC’s B.Voc. courses and two year courses on (i) Pulp and Paper Technology and (ii) Fashion Technology recognised by UGC. Though these sound challenging, we are determined to achieve the aims. For this, we have to act more concertedly and spiritedly.
I have decided to introduce some novel measures to encourage better performances by our dear students, some of which have already been mentioned in this prospectus. The commerce stream introduced last year could show immense prospects with definite sign of hope. We are targeting to achieve more in the days to come.
This session sets out to be very colourful for the College fraternity. The Silver Jubilee of Science Stream will be held in this session and a decision on this taken by a public meeting has been endorsed by the Governing Body. The second cycle of NAAC assessment will come to effect within this session. The above mentioned four new courses will also be launched in this session. There are plannings about a few new infrastructural facilities including construction of class rooms and development of Sports field.
Hope, you will all join our mission and support us as always to take a magnificent and progressive journey towards a bright future of our progeny. I look forward to your cooperation and valuable suggestions as a copilgrim in our honest mission.
